WATER INSIDE YOUR HOUSE? The state of Indiana is sending a team to Noble County on Wednesday, 2/28 to access flood damage across the county. They are trying to come up with enough damage state-wide to try and quailify for a presidential declaration. If you have water inside your home or know anyone who does, please text or call Diann Scott at 260-273-9441. We will use Tuesday to set up locations for the team to visit on Wednesday. Remember, this is for any water inside your home (not crawlspace or detached buildings).

Sylvan Dam Being Monitored

NOBLE COUNTY EMA: The Rome City Conservancy District is monitoring the Sylvan Lake water level and has issued a Level 3 Watch Event. This is a watch status. So what does this mean to us?  Sylvan Lake dam procedures require a Level 3 watch be implemented when the water level reaches 10’6” — this means closely monitoring of the structure. Per Mick Newton, Noble County EMA Director “at 10.5’, the water is on the second weir and procedures require close monitoring of the structure.  No further action would be needed unless the level exceeds 11 feet.” Per David Abbott, Noble County Commissioner and President of Rome City Conservancy District, “An Event Level 3 is really nothing more than a watch alert. Sandbag Update

Filled sandbags will be available after 1:30 pm today (Tuesday, 2/20) at the Rome City Street Department. If you need them this morning, you can get them in Albion at the Highway Department. Remember, for sandbags to be effective you should weave plastic sheeting between each layer. Plastic sheeting is not provided with the sandbags. Ober & Glick at Town Hall Meeting

There was a Town Hall Meeting with Rep. Ober & Sen. Glick Sat. Feb. 17 at the Kendallville Library. There is an article in the Kendallville News Sun Feb 18. West Lakes flooding was discussed. Dan Lash, from Eagle Island, was present at the meeting. Dan reported that Ober introduced a bill that is now in front of the State Senate regarding the flooding. There is flood control planning and language in the Maumee River Basin Commission. The bill takes that language and adds it to the St. Joe River Basin Commission which now is mainly concerned with water quality.
